bueno antes que nada voy a explicar un poquito: un bootskin tiene que tener como máximo 16 colores, por lo que recomiendo que elijas alguna foto con pocos colores.
before starting im gonna explain some things: the bootskin must have a maximum of 16 colors, so i recommend you use a pic that doesn't have many colors.

abri tu foto en el photoshop.
open your pic with photoshop.
cliquea en el menu "image/image size" y elegi:
"width=640"
"hight=480"
y cliquea en OK.
click on menu "image/image size" and choose:
"width=640"
"hight=480"
and click OK.
desde ahora recomiendo que trabajen en tamaño verdadero de la foto cliqueando en la lupa en la barra de herramientas y después arriba en el botón que dice "actual pixels"
now i reccomed that you work with the actual pixels clicking on the magnifying glass in the tools window and then on the button "actual pixels"
bueno, ahora la parte importante: para pasarlo a 16 colores hagan clic en "image/mode/indexed color..."en la barra de menu y ahí elegir las opciones:
"Pallete: Local(Perceptual)"
"Colors: 16"
"Forced: black and white"
"Dither: Diffusion"
"Amount: como te guste, yo siempre uso 86%"
okay, now the important part: for passing it to 16 colours click on "image/mode/indexed color..." in the menu bar and choose the options:
"Pallete: Local(Perceptual)"
"Colors: 16"
"Forced: black and white"
"Dither: Diffusion"
"Amount: as you like, i always use 86%"
ahora hay que guardarlo: file/save as...
"nombre: BOOT.bmp"
"forma/formato: BMP"
guardar.
now we'll save it: file/save as...
"name: BOOT.bmp"
"format: BMP"
click "save"
va a aparecer una ventanita, eleji:
"Depth: 4bit"
a window will appear, choose:
"Depth: 4bit"
cierren el photoshop, abran su foto con Paint y decorenla como quieran.
now close photoshop, open your image with Paint and decorate it as you want.
[edit] agregando barra de progreso/adding progress bar
para agregarle la barra de progreso elijan la herramienta de cuadrado, pero la que es solo las lineas, y hagan un cuadrado lo ancho que quieran, lo importante es que sea de 15 pixels de alto, en mi caso es de 300x15. esta va a ser su barra de progreso. La barra de progreso TIENE que ser de color negro!
adding the progress bar: choose the square tool, but the one that has only the lines, and make a square, no matter how with, but it must have 15pixels hight. in my case is 300x15. this will be your progress bar. The progress bar MUST be black!
ahora guardalo y cerra
now save and close.
copia tu archivo "BOOT.bmp" y cambiale el nombre a la copia a "progress.bmp". abrilo en paint y cambiale el tamaño a "22x9", dibuja el progress que va a pasar por la barra de progreso y guardalo. Te quedarian dos archivos "BOOT.bmp" y "progress.bmp" solo vas a poder usar los colores que usaste para tu imagen.
copy your file "BOOT.bmp" and rename the copy to "progress.bmp". then open it in paint and change the size to 22x9, draw the progress that will pass over your progress bar and save.(you can use only the colors that you used on you picture)
abri el block de notas, copia el siguiente texto y pegalo:
open the notepad, copy the next lines and paste:
[BootSkin]
Type=0
Name = "write here"
Author = "your name"
Description = "write here"
ProgressBar=progress.bmp
ProgressBarX =
ProgressBarY =
ProgressBarWidth =
Screen=BOOT.bmp
tendria que quedar asi:

bueno, como pueden ver hay tres renglones que quedaron sin ser escritos, abran BOOT.bmp y miren la foto que hay a continuación para saber como completarlos.
as you can see there are three blank lines, open BOOT.bmp and see the next picture to know what to write there.
ahora guarda el texto y renombralo a "bootskin.ini"
now save your text and rename it to "bootskin.ini"

para terminar crea una nueva carpeta en: "C:\archivos de programa\Stardock\WinCustomize\BootSkin\skins" y move los archivos BOOT.bmp, bootskin.ini y progress.bmp dentro de la nueva carpeta
to finish move the files BOOT.bmp, bootskin.ini and progress.bmp to a new folder on "C:\Program Files\Stardock\WinCustomize\BootSkin\skins"
solo queda que abras el programa BootSkin y lo previsualices para ver si todo fue bien.
now just open the program BootSkin and preview it to see if eveything went OK.
[edit] exportando a un archivo ".bootskin" y publicando/exporting to a ".bootskin" file and submitting
abri el archivo BOOT.bmp y guardalo como:
nombre: "preview.jpg"
forma/formato: "JPEG"
open the file BOOT.bmp and save it as:
name: "preview.jpg"
format: "JPEG"
para publicarlo, hace click aca y segui las instrucciones
