CursorFX (formerly CursorXP) is an application that allows you to use and create custom cursors for Windows. CursorFX is available as a free version, and a Plus version which adds features such as special effects, colorization, trail effects, and much more.
There are thousands of cursors available to download from sites such as: WinCustomize.com.

[edit] How to use CursorFX
CursorFX is available as a stand-alone download, or if you purchase the Plus version you can download through Stardock Central. A number of themes are included with CursorFX, you simply select one from the list and click Apply.
To install a downloaded CursorFX (or older CursorXP) theme, double-click on the theme to install it. You will be asked if you want to make the selected theme the current theme. Click Yes and your cursor will be changed.
More options are available through the CursorFX Plus Control Panel.

CursorFX includes a full-featured Theme Editor with options such as: import graphics, copy/paste from existing themes, hot spot placement, various animation settings, scripting, loops, and more. You can view both normal and pressed states of your cursor. Options to replace not only the graphics (skin) of your cursor, but also special effects and trails. You can modify an existing theme, or create an entirely new package (theme).
CursorFX supports the .PNG 32-bit file format that supports transparency (RGB + alpha channel). CursorFX can read older CursorXP files (.CurXPTheme), but not write (save) them. CursorFX saves themes as ".CursorFX".
